It is with great excitement that VT-NH Veterinary Clinic welcomed its newest veterinarian, Dr. Dan Abbott in July 2011!
Dr. Ron Veenema (on the right) has been with the practice since 1973, his favorite place to be when he is not seeing patients is the surgical suite. He enjoys orthopedic surgeries and frequently repairs torn cranial cruciate ligaments (ACL) in our canine patients. Dr. Veenema has participated in numerous mission trips to Haiti where he provides much needed services to the local community. He also finds time to serve as the secretary / treasurer of the Vermont Veterinary Medical Association ( VVMA) and chairs their budget commitee.

Dr. Ron Svec joined the practice in 1983 after receiving his medical degree from Kansas State University. His area of expertise includes small and exotic animal medicine and surgery. He also enjoys offering assistance and consultation with local wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. In March he often travels to Alaska to participate in the Iditarod Sled Dog Race as a trail veterinarian. He also serves as secretary for the International Sled Dog Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Svec is also a member of the Vermont State Veterinary Board. He enjoys coaching, playing and officiating soccer. His outdoor interests include wildlife observation, fishing and kayaking.

Dr. Ted Johnson, who joined the practice in 1990, focuses primarily on equine health maintenance including dentistry. He also enjoys lameness, pre-purchase exams, and the problem solving that comes with daily equine practice. During his time away from the office he likes woodworking, hiking and kayaking. In the winter he also enjoys telemark skiing and is a member of the Ski Patrol at Magic Mountain.
Dr. Jerilyn Jacobs has been with us since 1994 and lives on a small farm in Vermont. She enjoys both small animal and equine medicine. She is a member of the Eastern Mountain Ranch Horse Association and enjoys ranch versatility and team penning with her Quarter Horse. She is also a trustee of the Veterinary Scholarship Trust of New England (VSTONE). Recently Dr. Jacobs was inducted to the Stoneleigh-Burnham Wall of Fame.

Dr. Tammy McNamara joined the practice in 2004 and enjoys equine and small animal medicine and surgery. She also is a member of the VVMA Animal Welfare Committee and volunteers at area spay / neuter clinics. She shares her home with a variety of pets, including three horses and enjoys trail riding and gardening in her spare time.
Dr. Dan Abbott is originally from Maine, and received his veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania. The founding veterinarians of our clinic (Dr. David Baldwin and Dr. Clyde Johnson) also graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, as did Dr. Ron Veenema, so he is in good company! He has a wide variety of veterinary experience and we look forward to adding him to our veterinary team. Dr. Abbott worked as a veterinary technician prior to veterinary school and even at a Wildlife Sanctuary for chimpanzees. Also as part of his veterinary school experience he studied wildlife biology in Botswana, Africa and worked with a local animal welfare society. Dr. Abbott has a strong interest in small animal surgery and is excited to be joining our mixed animal practice. Outside of veterinary medicine he enjoys hiking, skiing, and kayaking, so we are confident he will enjoy beautiful Southern Vermont!
